daily style: more tribeca film festival...

By Roberta Correia · April 28, 2010

So apparently my announcement that the Tribeca Film Festival was without fashion was a bit premature. Last night's The Killer Inside Me premiere had me eating my words and saying apologies.

Dear Jessica Alba,

My apologies for ever doubting how positively stunning you are. See, all it took was long flowing locks (those are the most real looking extensions I ever did see), naturally glowing makeup and a beyond lovely Chloe hippie girl dress to make me a believer again. This is your best hair to date. You've peaked my interest yet again.

Now on to Kate Hudson. See my advice to Jess Alba and follow it. What's with the Mad Men hair? Too frumpy makeup and logoed poncho? Remember when you were lauded for your natural beauty and bohemian style. Let's try to get back to that shall we? Think Penny Lane...

Fantastic or dubious, either way after a week of blah fashions up and down the red carpet, we finally have something to work with.

it's a walk off, it's a walk off...anne hathaway vs. anne hathaway...

By Roberta Correia · March 9, 2010

You know what it's like when you buy a new dress and it fits so perfectly you want to wear it to every event  you have possible for weeks? I definitely suffer from new outfit OCD and clearly so does Anne Hathaway.

The Alice in Wonderland star first wore French label IRO's Vayate dress to a press conference for the film in Hollywood way back in February. And then low and behold, she's in the same dress 2 weeks later on the Ellen Degeneres show. And who can blame her - the dress is the perfect mix of French "je ne sais quoi" and California cool. Expect to hear tons more from IRO, the label was founded by brothers Laurent and Arik Bitton in 2004, has two Parisian boutiques, counts European It chicks Vanessa Paradis, Lou Douillon, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Melanie Laurent as fans and if their company goal - embellishing the urban woman by offering her endless options of simple, yet bold clothing, enabling her to transform from day to night - is any indication, they will swoop Hollywood (and my heart) by storm.

daily style: battle of the sparkling dresses...anne vs. kristen...

By Roberta Correia · February 26, 2010

By no means am I implying these dresses are identical. However, something about them just strikes me as eerily similar, especially considering they were worn on the same night.

Anne Hathaway stepped out across the pond in Vivienne Westwood for the highly anticipated world premier of Alice in Wonderland. Anne's Vivienne Westwood had the signature VW neckline, a more brownish color and a lovely draped side. She paired it with ruffled Casadei pumps, Stephen Webster jewels and very red lips. Something about her here screams Julia Roberts to me, but what do I know. I kind of love the sort of messed up hair, who knows if it's the rainy London weather or if that was the hair style's intent. Either way it works for me and gives Anne this sexy grown up thing she's lacked a few times on the red carpet.

It's Only Fashion fave Kristen Bell was feeling the Thursday night sparkles all the way on the other side of the world at the Costume Designer's Guild Awards in LA. Kristen chose a golden glistening Stella McCartney for the occasion, perfectly netted with a nude tule disguising the low cut of the dress. Equally as pretty and sparkly as Anne, but with a California girl spin to it. Don't you think?

shoe ocd: rachel bilson...

By Roberta Correia · February 11, 2010

Rachel Bilson has a new obsession. Ok, so it's not as compulsive as the Sienna Miller/Prada bag debacle of summer 2009 just yet, but it seems to be the beginnings of a steady relationship. And we all know when Rachel wears something more than once it's love (exhibit A. the 3.1 Phillip Lim bow bag she was photographed with many a time). This time around Rachel's loving Mary Jane flats from Tila March. And why not? The "ballerine elastique" flats are the perfect transition piece from Winter to Spring. As RBils shows us, tights and jeans work perfectly with this modern mix of two staples in footwear (the flat and mary jane) but let's just take a moment to picture it paired with some floral shorts, a mini or even (GHASP) linen overalls (my new obsession for spring). Me thinks that Ms. Bilson has stumbled upon the ultimate in between season footwear.

daily style: couples retreat...

By Roberta Correia · October 7, 2009

Strapless, short and sexy, that was the name of the fashion game at the Couples Retreat premiere earlier this week. Perennial It's Only Fashion favorite Kristen Bell was the "bell of the ball" (dear lord I'm a nerd) in a little Marchesa number straight from the runways of Spring/Summer 2010. This was one of my favorite looks from the Marchesa presentation, but who doesn't love a little lace and with a chiffon side tail?

Now her co-star Malin Akerman went for a similarly pastel look in a yellow and nude tube dress from Thakoon. While I absolutely completely adore the draped nude skirt, I wish the top had been a more favorable color - the yellow/nude combo seemed a little off for my taste, perhaps black or even navy would have worked better and given us a less springy feel? Rounding out the dress were a pair of nude Aldo pumps. Either way the shape of the dress is incredible and on Ms. Akerman it's absolutely stunning.
