Is it me or are style goddesses Gwyneth and Miss Moss committing the ultimate fashion sin? Seems KM liked the very sexy one shouldered dress GP rocked to the Ralph Lauren Wimbledon party that she chose an eerily similar little number for the unveiling of Mario Testino's exhibit in her honor, Kate Who? Kate the Great feted herself in style in the one shouldered LBD, adding uber high pointy toed stilettos, her signature smokey eye and some serious party time hair. Meanwhile Gwynnie went on a more casual route with hers pairing it with brown gladiators, a long pendant and hair definitely less likely to party.
Who do you think perfected the one shouldered LBD? Vote after the break...
Ever wonder how Coachella became such a hyped up, fashioned music frenzy? Didn't it use to be just a chill music festival? In the same manner as Sundance, Coachella's now home to all sorts of red carpet worthy parties and sponsored gifting suites to accommodate the ever growing number of celebs attending the 3 day massive fiesta. Hey, not that we're complaining over here - Coachella, and other music festivals like it, have provided us with some of the new millennium's most covetable sartorial choices from the likes of Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Nicole Richie etc etc... Let's face it, we all wish we had that festival chic look down. Apparently it consists of some super short denim shorts, either a boho top or a vintage rock tshirt and some form of headwear. Shall we take a stroll down memory lane before we start getting inundated with 2010 Coachella fashions?
Oh and I threw Kate Moss at Glastonbury in there just for good measure. Enjoy and dream Coachella dreams...
You know what it's like when you buy a new dress and it fits so perfectly you want to wear it to every event you have possible for weeks? I definitely suffer from new outfit OCD and clearly so does Anne Hathaway.
The Alice in Wonderland star first wore French label IRO's Vayate dress to a press conference for the film in Hollywood way back in February. And then low and behold, she's in the same dress 2 weeks later on the Ellen Degeneres show. And who can blame her - the dress is the perfect mix of French "je ne sais quoi" and California cool. Expect to hear tons more from IRO, the label was founded by brothers Laurent and Arik Bitton in 2004, has two Parisian boutiques, counts European It chicks Vanessa Paradis, Lou Douillon, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Melanie Laurent as fans and if their company goal - embellishing the urban woman by offering her endless options of simple, yet bold clothing, enabling her to transform from day to night - is any indication, they will swoop Hollywood (and my heart) by storm.
It's taken me quite some time to get over the loving chaos that was NYFW. And I say chaos in the nicest way possible, sometimes chaos is necessary in life right? From my experience this was one of NYC's funnest fashion weeks in years - people seemed psyched at everything (minus one psychotic casting director who's career needs to be over and sent to anger management stat), smiles on faces - even Anna's - parties, glamour, a billion air kisses and way too many celebrity sightings to even count. My how things change in a season right?
Ok so back to the subject at hand, my point is that NYFW was so much fun that London Fashion Week followed with an equal amount of excitement. After all, no one does fashion like those Brits - at least in my opinion - and it was the 25th anniversary of LFW, a big reason to celebrate. Trenches and booties non stop were the name of the game, and London was It Girl central for the past week - Kate, Alexa, Gwyneth, Liv, Emma, Posh, Pixie, Peaches etc etc etc... And that was all at just one party!! To celebrate their return to the London stage, they had previously been showing in MIlan, Burberry threw the most star studded and infinitely cool affair of the week, not to mention the chicest runway possible. Oh, and the best front pairing I've ever seen. Take a look after the jump.
Forget the Oscars, Golden Globes and Emmy's...the MET Costume Institute Gala is the place to be for the most fashionable red carpet looks.
Hosted by Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss and Justin Timberlake, this year's "Model as Muse" Gala has to be the most style filled event of the year.
From glam ball gowns to mini sequin dresses, to some serious disasters (we'll get to that next), the red carpet was a who's who of fashion and Hollywood.
Oh and did I mention models? Sure most fashion events bring out loads of the slender and tall fashionistas, but with the Model as Muse theme, it was like a model safari - even bringing out our early 90s favorites Cindy Crawford, Paulina Poriskova and Claudia Schiffer. It's like the George Michael Freedom video all over again.
So here go the best of the best...stay tuned for the Oh No moments, trust me there were quite a few...
I'm not sure if you've heard (insert obvious sarcasm here) about this little store opening that's going on today in NYC. Yes, I will be walking over to the giant SoHo flagship of the first ever US Topshop and getting in line to hopefully get my hands on some London inspired Spring pieces. And yes I've been awake since 7 (I NEVER wake up that early) with excitement and have had several cups of coffee.
And it looks like I'm clearly not the only one excited...Over the past two days Sir Phillip Green (that's the owner of Topshop) has hosted two sets of dinners at Balthazar and private shopping events for VIPS (ie celebrities and their hangers on), my invite must have gotten lost in the mail. Last night's event gave us a glimpse of the girl everyone's been hoping to see, Miss Kate Moss herself is on the other side of the pond to help Topshop celebrate their US opening (again for those of you who have not heard she has this little line that she designs for Topshop, sorry I'm a bit too snarky this morning)...
So while I wait to muster up the strength to check out the store, why don't you take a look at some of the fabulous people who got first dibs on the fabulous dresses, waistcoats (I'm pretty sure that's British for vests), jumpers (again British for sweater), bags, shoes, skirts etc etc etc
Let's just hope they have some pieces left in my size when I get there
Every morning when I get dressed, I sit in front of my over crowded closet and ask myself - W.W.K.M.W.??
What Would Kate Moss Wear - a religion? a cult? a daily prayer?
Or just a tool in positive visualization? If I think I dress like Kate Moss, I will dress like Kate Moss...ok, maybe I've read "The Secret" one too many times.
In any case, Ms. Moss is my pick for It Girl of this week. Not that she is not perfectly attired every time she steps out on any given week, but this week the intro of her new sleek bob really upped the ante and took me by surprise... No secret that I'm loving this new sleek bob look (look what it did for Gwyneth) and have actually been holding myself back from cutting the necessary 4 inches off my hair to get this look. Maybe this is the push I needed.
Thanks Kate for driving thousands of girls to the hair salon this weekend...
