the people have chosen...they chose, poorly.

By Roberta Correia · January 6, 2011

Well, that didn't go so well did it? I was all sorts of excited for my grand return to the world of celebrity fashion blogging and counted The People's Choice Award as my first hurrah. I'm completely and utterly underwhelmed. Anyone else?

What a painfully boring red carpet. Where were the Glee girls? Where were Diane Kruger and Pacey Whitter? Where was anyone else besides the Kardashians and Taylor Swift? And so much J. Mendel it's safe to say the brand is the official spokesperson of celeb cocktail dress chic?

Ok, ok... maybe I go too far. Yes Jennifer Aniston was there - and Leighton Meester and Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman. But their sartorial choices did not make up for the lackluster red carpet. It was all nude basic colors in short cocktail dresses. For once I'm glad for the likes of Kristen Stewart and Katy Perry for injecting a little life into this Awards season kickoff.

Let's read on for what I liked, disliked and was just plain bored out of my head by at The People's Choice Awards.

daily style: the eternal showdown...

By Roberta Correia · August 18, 2010

Ok, ok, yet another long absence, yet another long list of excuses, none of which I'll bore you with. Instead, I'll just offer you a showdown of epic proportions to make amends. A fashion face-off between Angelina and Jen is like the eternal struggle between good and evil, Darth Vader/Luke Skywalker, Jack/Locke, Danny Zuko and that dude he races in Thunder Road, Brenda and Kelly if you will. The former and current Mrs. Pitts both premiered movies on the same day this week. Angie with Salt in London and Jen with The Switch in LALA land. While Saint Angelina went for flowy, ethereal goddess - a very big change for the generally black clad Jolie - in silver Amanda Wakeley; girl next door Jen was showing off her  yoga'd physique in a two toned Lanvin.

Jen plays it nice and safe as per usual, going for universally flattering shapes and neutral tones - not to say the dress isn't lovely, she just looks like usual straight haired Rachel Greene. Like I said, playing it safe, she looks nice but nothing special.

Angie is for once channeling angelic sainthood. Now don't get me wrong, I love dominatrix Angie as much as the next gal, but seeing her looking so mother earth-like is just appropriate isn't it? A few gripes: Unlike Jen's figure hugging number, Angelina's is a big shapeless glittery sack. Not that I don't love that, but i wish it had been better tailored for her figure. Also, and this has been bothering me for months, there's something about that hair which is making me completely nuts - I think it might be how the bangs curl just slightly under, very 1980s, very old ladyish. Then again, where Jen sticks with her modern signature sleek do, Angelina always likes to do something that looks sophisticated, for a 70 year old. Get a straightening iron girl.

What do you guys think? Team Jolie or Team Aniston? Eh, at least Brad has a type - a slightly boring red carpet walker. Sidenote, I really want to see The Switch, well just because I have an eternal love of Michael Blooth.

apologies and daily style: jennifer aniston...

By Roberta Correia · March 30, 2010

ok so should we just go right past the apologies and the excuses and the talk about food poisoning and no sleep and busy-ness and go right to laughing about my very long absence? No? Sorry kids, it's been an interesting couple of weeks and I've disappointed myself by letting you all down. Today we move right past this awkward incident and right to talking about our favorite topic.

So let's get back down to business and start out with a look that positively shocked me. Jennifer Aniston not wearing black! GASP. Ok so we saw Jen in a beige Donna Karan number last week that was outstanding (yeah I know I didn't post it here, oops, my bad) but still going the basic route that Jen's become known for on the red carpet. And then out of nowhere this weekend we get: Ms. Aniston in BRIGHT PINK...and not just any bright pink, an ombre ruffled and bowed Christian Lacroix bright pink. Can we talk about how amazing a little color looks on her? And let's discuss that the hair is not down and pin straight! Ok so a ponytail's not exactly Friends haircut groundbreaking but it's a start. Maybe this is a whole new Jen.

And don't worry I won't be disappearing again ok? Promise. And stay tuned for a little something new coming your way!

Daily Style: There's a World Outside of Fashion Week...

By Roberta Correia · September 16, 2009

Who knew? Jennifer Aniston showed us there is fashion outside of fashion week last night at the LA premiere of her new movie Love Happens. The former Friend seems to be following trends as she showed up in one of my favorite looks for fall - the long sleeved mini dress. I normally don't go for Jen's basic look, I find her kind of boring, which is fine but she's just normally not my taste. However, I will say that she looks unbelievable in this metallic Valentino number (was she taking notes at the VMAs or something?). One boring thing I do always love on JenAn, is when she keeps her hair and makeup natural - it totally works for her. Thanks for giving us a little NYFW break Jen, and now back to your regularly scheduled programming. More Fashion Week coming your way...

so much fashion so little time...

By Roberta Correia · March 4, 2009

Yes I've been absent again. It's sadly become common place.

But I'm catching up and will hopefully be up and running like normal as of this afternoon.

Looks like this week has been all about Milan Fashion Week and all about Dolce & Gabbana (with a bit of Marley & Me in there too).

I wonder if Dolce flew everyone there in one private plane?? Can you imagine??

Oh and it's just not fair that Gisele is beyond perfect.

He's just not that into you...or maybe it's your outfit?

By Roberta Correia · February 3, 2009

The star studded cast of He's Just Not That Into You came out in full force for the movie's premiere last night. Yes I'll admit I'm dying to see it, like really counting the days (pathetic I know).

Naturally whenever serious A-listers are afoot, the opportunities for fashion fantastic and fashion faux pas are plenty.

Check out the ladies of He's Just Not That Into You in their premiere best.

I love the majority and some I'm not so sure about. What do you think??

so much fashion, so little time...

By Roberta Correia · December 19, 2008

Sorry, it's been kind of a crazy day... between braving the massive snow storm and birthday celebration (oh, did I forget to mention today is my birthday?) I just sat down to browse through some looks now.

Here are some highlights to finish off the week. Lots going on this week and a lot of fashion to go with it.

Nobody puts Tallulah in a corner...

By robicor · October 16, 2008

At an event attended by industry heavy hitters like Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Demi Moore, Sheryl Crow, Kirsten Dunst - who would have thought the biggest style stand out would be Tallulah Belle Willis, Demi Moore & Bruce Willis's daughter. Tallulah showed up her mom and everyone else at the premiere of Demi & Courteney Cox's short films for Glamour's Reel Moments. In a very modern and young Opening Ceremony navy blue silk mini dress and black clutch and Laboutins - she really wowed everyone, we always knew she was the fashionista of the Moore Willis crew.
