I go back and forth with Chloe Sevigny. There are days when I think she's beyond fantastic, and days when I find her fashion choices way too out there for me. Her Proenza Schouler look at Derek Blasberg's "Classy" book party was somewhere in between. While I love the cuts, lengths and fit etc, the prints are not my cup of tea. I get it, I totally do, it's just not my thing. I've come to the sad realization that i'm just so boring these days, and I can't seem to step away from neutrals. Oops.
In any case I do think Chloe looks great, and yes I do have the ability to appreciate a certain style even if it's not mine. I'm still loving her cropped hair and well socks and open toed heels are always a hit in my book.
If you're anything like me, the idea of a week of Spring filled weather after a very cold and miserable winter not only inspires thoughts of city strolling, park hopping and outdoor drinking, but also brings with it a slight wardrobe anxiety. You see, I've gotten so used to living in my tights, boots, thick sweaters and coats that putting together a transition weather appropriate outfit makes the ever prominent lines on my forehead even deeper. In short, what the f&*#$@#@ do we wear this week for the 75 degree nyc weather? Yes the weekend gave us a sneak peak into the glory that's to come but I'm all sorts of stressed trying to figure out how to make a smooth transition from my winter gear to my sunny summer selections.
Can I wear flip flops? Is it too soon for shorts? Will I need a jacket? What about flowery dresses? If I put on a sweater will I be way too warm? But what if I wear a skirt without tights and it gets cold at night? UGHHHHHHH
After many moons of research, very careful people watching from an open windowed cafe (what up Cafe Condesa!) and revisiting many online shopping carts filled with spring goodies, I've come to a few conclusions about this particular predicament. What follows is basically going to be my transition into Spring uniform. Apparently my Spring picks are neutral, neutral, neutral and somehow they include the word "boyfriend" for the most part. Weird. Well at least we can get lots of mixing and matching out of these guys.
I'm also curious to know, for anthropological research purposes of course, what some of you out there wore this week to usher in the Spring Summer time? Have you mastered the art of transitional fashion yet?
yes I'm a bit late to the game on this one... but there was definitely some fashiony things happening at the Kids' Choice Awards over the weekend. Particularly like how casual this event always ends up being - guess everyone assumes they'll be slimed.
ok so should we just go right past the apologies and the excuses and the talk about food poisoning and no sleep and busy-ness and go right to laughing about my very long absence? No? Sorry kids, it's been an interesting couple of weeks and I've disappointed myself by letting you all down. Today we move right past this awkward incident and right to talking about our favorite topic.
So let's get back down to business and start out with a look that positively shocked me. Jennifer Aniston not wearing black! GASP. Ok so we saw Jen in a beige Donna Karan number last week that was outstanding (yeah I know I didn't post it here, oops, my bad) but still going the basic route that Jen's become known for on the red carpet. And then out of nowhere this weekend we get: Ms. Aniston in BRIGHT PINK...and not just any bright pink, an ombre ruffled and bowed Christian Lacroix bright pink. Can we talk about how amazing a little color looks on her? And let's discuss that the hair is not down and pin straight! Ok so a ponytail's not exactly Friends haircut groundbreaking but it's a start. Maybe this is a whole new Jen.
And don't worry I won't be disappearing again ok? Promise. And stay tuned for a little something new coming your way!
You know what it's like when you buy a new dress and it fits so perfectly you want to wear it to every event you have possible for weeks? I definitely suffer from new outfit OCD and clearly so does Anne Hathaway.
The Alice in Wonderland star first wore French label IRO's Vayate dress to a press conference for the film in Hollywood way back in February. And then low and behold, she's in the same dress 2 weeks later on the Ellen Degeneres show. And who can blame her - the dress is the perfect mix of French "je ne sais quoi" and California cool. Expect to hear tons more from IRO, the label was founded by brothers Laurent and Arik Bitton in 2004, has two Parisian boutiques, counts European It chicks Vanessa Paradis, Lou Douillon, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Melanie Laurent as fans and if their company goal - embellishing the urban woman by offering her endless options of simple, yet bold clothing, enabling her to transform from day to night - is any indication, they will swoop Hollywood (and my heart) by storm.
Find out where you can snap up Anne's IRO dress after the jump... more, more, more...
I asked for risks, I got risks, and lots of color! This is what I'm talking about ladies!
A very fun red carpet for a change and as per usual Diane Kruger outdoes everyone...
