To every up there must be a down. Sure I spent most of the day ooohing and aahhing over celebrity fashionistas and their genius stylists, but there's a dark side to the world of Golden Globe fashion.
There were two standouts in the disaster section and they were both shocking and disappointing.
Note to Blake Lively: just because you have a hit teen show it doesn't give you the power to wear a denim colored dress 2 sizes too small, inappropriately colored shoes, and hair like you just did it with Nate at the bar of a wedding. Come on S, we know you are young and fabulous but please dress the part. Take a cue from Vanessa Hudgens and I hate to say it but even Miley Cyrus and dress your age and size b/c this look is reminding me of Britney Spears circa 2007.
Ms. Zellweger. i have no words. Are you the Sharon Stone of your generation? Because really, I just...no words. the hair, the neckline, the open shoulders, the nude colored bra, the Morticia Addams skirt?? Please take a cue from your Empire Records and Jerry Maguire self...
I hate to be mean but come on people...it can't be that difficult to look glamourous what with all the money, stylists, hair dressers etc etc
Is it wrong for me to say that I'm terrified by the a Gucci dress?
Madonna, didn't you know Halloween was a few weeks ago and why would you ever want to dress up like a lawn?
The hair's great, the bangles are great, the belt, even the red lipstick...but Frida Giannini, what is going with this unkept tennis court Madonna is wearing?
Sadly not a fan.
Blake Lively and Rihanna on the other hand...Miss Blake has been loving those maxi dresses lately, and why shouldn't she? they are perfect for her very tall self. Rihanna's also looking very class in her ruched dress.
The ladies got decked last night to launch the Gucci Tattoo Heart Collection to benefit UNICEF in NYC.
The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards brought some fashion savvy girls out to honor the evening's nominees. Doesn't it seem like every Fashion event is now completely dominated by celebrity presence? Not that I'm complaining, it gives me something to write about.
First off, I'm beyond excited that Alexander Wang won the night's big award. How adorable is he?
But let's follow that with some of the evening's designer starlets:
Charlize Theron accompanied John Galliano wearing Dior (obviously) - a bit too dominatrix for me, and at first glance I thought she was Paris Hilton.
Blake Lively was supporting the Vena Cava girls, I dont like what this dress does for her, it's frumpy and the paring of it with boots made her look like something out of Little House on the Prairie.
Oddly enough, Juliette Lewis had my favorite look of the night. In a sequined 3.1 Phillip Lim jumpsuit...the shoes make no sense to me but from the ankles up I absolutely adore this look!
Two store openings, two coasts...many many fashionistas. Felt like the old set of fashion savvy ex trouble makers in LA against the new crop of Gossip Girls that have been dominating fashion events in NYC. On the west coast we had Nicole Richie, Mischa Barton and Lindsay Lohan - of the Rachel Zoe era of super style - attending the opening of the DSquared store. All looking amazingly California hip, especially NR. We are of course bias but she looks great in a maxi floral dress and cropped leather jacket. Again the California hippie hair that I just love! Mischa Barton also continuing her good streak in a goddess inspired white maxi dress. On the east coast - Gossip Girls galore attended the opening of Juicy Couture's new store. While everyone obsesses over Blake Lively, it's no secret that I am such a fan of Jessica Szohr's edgier and extremely fun look. She just looks - awesome. Only word I could find to describe it. From the bold color of the dress, skinny belt, black patent booties to the armful of bangles that's reminiscent of the Rachel Zoe style! Not the biggest fan of Blake Lively's dress that looks more like a long sweater worn backwards. Overall - a big night for store openings and fashionable girls everywhere!
