fw 2010 oh so trendy trends...

We couldn't agree more with Fabsugar's trend predictions for FW 2010. While we saw orange, neutrals, shearling coats and leather pants - Fab noticed another one of our favorites (only because it makes our early 90s grunge so easy to attain) maxi dressing. Long skirts and dresses were all over the runways. Take a look at Fab TV to find out more.

you're soo trendy fw2010: what is that, velvet?...

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I'm not completely horrified by the overwhelming presence of velvet on the NYFW circuit. I had just come to terms with velvet's presence on the trend scene for this past fall/winter when I'm hit over the head with a wave of velvet that just has no end in sight. Sorry if this offends all you velvet lovers out there but there's something about the fabric once reserved for kings that just freaks me out. I think it reminds me of my own inadequacies in the wardrobe department circa the mid to late 90s. Yes there were many velvet mini dresses, tanks and even body suits (all from Bebe I will admit) that just have left a big scar on my style self. If you are going to brave this trend, I suggest something like what Nanette Lepore showed, like a long dress that looks like it flows. Stay away from velvet pants, I've been there (velvet jazz pants ouch) and it's just not a good look.

I'm the first in line to embrace the 90s renaissance but this is just something I can't get on board with, sorry kids. Either way, take a look at the velvet that was just dripping off the NYFW runways last week. Who knows, maybe I'll learn to love the trend and get over my own preconceived notions??

you're soo trendy fw2010: orange you glad...

As if we didn't get enough of citrus on the SS 2010 runways, orange makes its way into your fall wardrobe. It was rare the designer that didn't show at least one piece of orange clothing on their runway last week, but this orange was a definitely a little bit more "fall-ized", and not so Tropicana. Erin Fetherston, Elie Tahari, Derek Lam, Zac Posen, Narciso Rodriguez, Lela Rose, Mulberry, Oscar de la Renta, Victoria Beckham, Jill Stuart and Tory Burch were just a few of the designers making way for the burnt orange almost brick colored version of the Spring trend. Sure there were some bright punchy orange numbers as well, they came in the form of a bright fur jacket at Brian Reyes, silk pants at Charlotte Ronson and a blinding dress at Narciso. So take note kids, come September invest in something citrusy - you know, Vitamin C is good for you and all. For me, I'd keep it pretty dark, to go with the colors of fall's changing leaves.
