Well, that didn't go so well did it? I was all sorts of excited for my grand return to the world of celebrity fashion blogging and counted The People's Choice Award as my first hurrah. I'm completely and utterly underwhelmed. Anyone else?
What a painfully boring red carpet. Where were the Glee girls? Where were Diane Kruger and Pacey Whitter? Where was anyone else besides the Kardashians and Taylor Swift? And so much J. Mendel it's safe to say the brand is the official spokesperson of celeb cocktail dress chic?
Ok, ok... maybe I go too far. Yes Jennifer Aniston was there - and Leighton Meester and Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman. But their sartorial choices did not make up for the lackluster red carpet. It was all nude basic colors in short cocktail dresses. For once I'm glad for the likes of Kristen Stewart and Katy Perry for injecting a little life into this Awards season kickoff.
Let's read on for what I liked, disliked and was just plain bored out of my head by at The People's Choice Awards.
a little bit more glitz, glam and fun at the Vanity Fair Oscar after party.
Our dear Natalie Portman was at it again last night. Seems Nat's gotten back in touch with her inner fashionista as of late and she's made quite the splash on a few red carpets the past week. Sure she's got a movie to promote (are you excited to see Brothers?), but we'd like to think she just felt the overwhelming need to make a style statement and show the world she's still the most beautiful ingenue out there. For her third turn on our most stylish list in a week, Natalie chose a dazzling, and very holiday season appropriate, sequin tank dress from Proenza Schouler's Spring 2010 collection for IFP's 19th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards. We also give props to Natalie, and of course her fabulous and beyond cool stylist Kate Young, for choosing some of the greatest designers out there - Jason Wu, Vena Cava and Proenza all in one week, oh my.
No clue what I'm talking about? Let me walk you down memory lane with Natalie's other stylish picks from last week after the jump... more, more, more
alas a Thanksgiving coma kept me from posting my favorite looks from the tail end of the week. quit judging, didn't you guys all take a day off? though i have to say i miss stuffing already... take one last quick look before we vote on the best of Thanksgiving week!
The Fashion Week swarm continued and the ladies Diva'd up for the VMA's. Leighton pulled best dressed double duty at both, while Shakira and Pink laughed off their fashion faux pas...
Now who gets your vote for the week's best dressed?
Fashion Week is over and it's time to get our lives back on track...or so says Susie Miller at Astrology Zone. Wait, first she says that everything is going to be awful and my life will see drama like it never has before, and then that my life will get back on track. Ok sorry, I digress.
So NYFW has come to a tearful end and in order to not let the depression set in we are moving right along with what we've missed this week while we were consumed with dreams of free McCafe at the Tents: The Toronto Film Festival. More specifically, Natalie Portman at the Toronto Film Festival. Ms. Portman was floral Lanvin and Aldo peep toe clad at the premiere of Love and Other Pursuits while visiting our neighbor to the North.
This has to be one of my all time favorite Natalie Portman moments. As much as I love laidback Natalie, she really is at her best when she goes for Audrey Hepburnesque / ballerina glamour.
Seriously, an amazing week for celebrity fashion. US Weekly party, Matthew Williamson, Tribeca Film Festival...
A bevy of opportunities for these girls to show us they have better style then us regular folk.
I love that Mischa Barton has been out and about so much - she (and by she I mean Marissa Cooper) was my style inspiration for most of the early 2000's.
And Mrs. Tom Brady herself...sigh
