Remember when Sundance was just this small little film festival in a small quaint little mountain town? It didn't attract a ton of attention and some pretty spectacular films came out of it. Well amazing movies are still screened at Sundance but the amount of attention has certainly changed (insert T-Mobile diner, MySpace cafe, Muscle Milk lounge, etc etc here) Though I've said it before and I'll say it again, my most favorite thing about Sundance is that at heart it's still an indie film festival. And the red carpets are treated as such. There are no slinky dresses or fancy updos here - the dress code is mostly jeans, snow boots and puffy jackets. You have to hand it to the starlet who can manage to look uber cool under many many layers...
And so have we. Last night's People's Choice Awards gave out honors for the public's favorite entertainers of the year. Meanwhile the ladies of Hollywood took the opportunity to start 2010 off in great style.
Ok, so maybe they're not ALL luncheons but we can all agree that they are all doing good and looking ladylike. This week saw a bevy of events, lunches and dinners geared towards raising awareness to the various causes close to our favorite starlets's hearts. Sure in New York this all came thanks to the UN Council bringing us the do gooders of the world to our fair city but the world of traffic that follows them.
Forget the Oscars, Golden Globes and Emmy's...the MET Costume Institute Gala is the place to be for the most fashionable red carpet looks.
Hosted by Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss and Justin Timberlake, this year's "Model as Muse" Gala has to be the most style filled event of the year.
From glam ball gowns to mini sequin dresses, to some serious disasters (we'll get to that next), the red carpet was a who's who of fashion and Hollywood.
Oh and did I mention models? Sure most fashion events bring out loads of the slender and tall fashionistas, but with the Model as Muse theme, it was like a model safari - even bringing out our early 90s favorites Cindy Crawford, Paulina Poriskova and Claudia Schiffer. It's like the George Michael Freedom video all over again.
So here go the best of the best...stay tuned for the Oh No moments, trust me there were quite a few...
just a few more fashionable moments from this week before it's time to vote...
It's about damn time, I know.
Needless to say it's been a bit of a crazy few days and time has been extremely limited.
So I'm finally catching up, which sadly means I haven't even looked at anything since last Thursday!!! Can you believe it?
In any case, lots going on, it seems Nicole Richie is the belle of the ball these days, making many appearances and toting her baby bump along with her. I still refuse to watch The Hills but at the same time look at LC as a fashion icon, pathetic I know.
So here's yet another apology for another long absence...let's hope this time the promises of continued posting sticks...
While everyone eagerly anticipates the Oscars Red Carpet showdown, my own personal favorite Award Show goes on the day before.
The Independent Spirit Awards - call it Award Show Lite. Sure it becomes a bigger circus every year (kind of like Sundance, anyone remember when Sundance was a little independent festival and not a Swag / Gift Bag / Suite Fiesta??) but it's still the most casual and laid back show, it's even in the afternoon and at the beach.
And since we here at It's Only Fashion love seeing celebs in their most laid back every day wear, The Spirit Awards is the sort of in between.
Cocktail dresses, open toe sandals, floral sun dresses... gotta love it.
Check out my favorites from yesterday's Red Carpet after the jump...
Another crazy week. Sorry for the lack of postings this week but fashion week beckons yet again.
As per usual loving Angelina Jolie in some not so basic black and Camilla Belle's very youthful choices.
And between Isla Fisher, Rihanna and Ginnifer Goodwin - it's hard to say who worked out the red carpet the most this week promoting their movies/grammy's.
Love Mrs. Borat and Ginnifer Goodwin (especially after just getting home from He's Just Not That Into You) sad about her and Oz though. Oh and as per usual it's lovely to see RBils out and about.
What do you think???
