FNO: The Show

|
By Roberta Correia · September 8, 2010

I'm guessing I wasn't the only one glued to cbs.com (and Andre Leon Talley's incessant babbling) last night circa 7pm was I? Fashion's Night Out is still a couple of days away but last night's Fashion's Night Out fashion show really got us in the NYFW/FNO mood. The absurdly over the top / dramatic/ mega spectacle was tauted the "biggest fashion show of all time" and it didn't disappoint. Gisele, Alessandra, Adriana, Karolina, Natalia, Coco, Chanel, Dree, Naomi etc, etc...basically every working model out there got off that double decker bus to strut her stuff on the circular runway.

What followed was an opulent and fabulous collection of every awe inspiring look from the FW2010 runways. Hoping to inspire a lot of FNO shopping Vogue editors and stylists Tabitha Simmons and Edward Enninful put together a showcase of the season's top trends according to Vogue. The show worked in 9 themes, in between the Opening Act and Grand Finale were Fifties Flair, Tartan Twist, Pure At Heart, Weekend Wrap-Up, Rock Chic, Go Global and Jazz Age Cool.

PS - I've settled on nomadic chic for my fall look - appropriate I think.

never been so impressed: the met costume institute gala...

Forget the Oscars, Hollywood's truly most fashionable night is officially the Costume Institute Gala. I can only say Holy amazing red carpet Batman!!! I've never seen so many incredible dresses on so many insanely stylish women all in one place. Doesn't hurt that the inspiration was American style through the ages. I think all the ladies seemed to conquer it. Keep reading for some of my favorites. I don't think there's one that I can say did this year's MET Ball any wrong. It's unbelievable!

so much fashion...no excuses...

We won't even attempt an excuse for the absence. Other work, family obligations, holidays etc. Bottom line is we're back.

Take a look at some of this week's best dressed...and it's only Tuesday

Of course, last week was all about the MET Gala, so now it's time to vote for your favorite!

the greatest night in fashion...

Forget the Oscars, Golden Globes and Emmy's...the MET Costume Institute Gala is the place to be for the most fashionable red carpet looks.

Hosted by Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss and Justin Timberlake, this year's "Model as Muse" Gala has to be the most style filled event of the year.

From glam ball gowns to mini sequin dresses, to some serious disasters (we'll get to that next), the red carpet was a who's who of fashion and Hollywood.

Oh and did I mention models? Sure most fashion events bring out loads of the slender and tall fashionistas, but with the Model as Muse theme, it was like a model safari - even bringing out our early 90s favorites Cindy Crawford, Paulina Poriskova and Claudia Schiffer. It's like the George Michael Freedom video all over again.

So here go the best of the best...stay tuned for the Oh No moments, trust me there were quite a few...

i'm back...

Hi All, so sorry to have you left you last week. A bit of a hectic week and well, just didn't want to half ass things for you guys.

Let's start fresh with some of the best looks of this weekend.

Given that tonight is the MET Costume Institute Gala, this week promises to be busy with many many red carpet sightings. Can't wait...

so much fashion, so little time...

Seriously, an amazing week for celebrity fashion. US Weekly party, Matthew Williamson, Tribeca Film Festival...

A bevy of opportunities for these girls to show us they have better style then us regular folk.

I love that Mischa Barton has been out and about so much - she (and by she I mean Marissa Cooper) was my style inspiration for most of the early 2000's.

And Mrs. Tom Brady herself...sigh

Yes I've been absent again. It's sadly become common place.

But I'm catching up and will hopefully be up and running like normal as of this afternoon.

Looks like this week has been all about Milan Fashion Week and all about Dolce & Gabbana (with a bit of Marley & Me in there too).

I wonder if Dolce flew everyone there in one private plane?? Can you imagine??

Oh and it's just not fair that Gisele is beyond perfect.

It's a walk off... it's a walk off...

I love seeing what some of the most stylish women in the world wear to get on a plane! It's a tough situation since you want to look cute and put together but at the same time comfortable - unless you're Posh in which case you just forego comfort altogether for 4 inch heels on a 10 hour flight.

Three of our favorite fashionistas, and three different airport looks...both comfortable and effortlessly stylish. Clearly finding the balance between comfort and chic involves tight black pants or leggings, black boots and a grey scarf!

Who do you think got it right???
