We caught up with adorable new designer Kaelen Farncombe this weekend at the debut presentation of her namesake line, Kaelen. The Toronto native, a former Jenni Kayne and Stella McCartney employee, wowed with a cohesive collection that's normally reserved for the likes of seasoned fashion vets. The mix of soft colors, neutrals and a wowing turquoise were the perfect way to spend our Saturday morning and go with the layering addiction we have going on right now.
For a first timer Kaelen has an incredible eye for the minimalism that's sweeping the fashion nation, and a lovely mix of tailored and draping that was inspired by 1940s dressing. My favorite piece: a cropped black jacket with a shearling collar over a streamlined skirt and metallic-ish top. All this on her first time out! Can't wait to see what she has in store for next season. No pressure!
And did we forget to mention that she's just darling? Take a look for yourself...
A somber first day for New York Fashion Week this season.
While the fashion community mourned the loss of one of their own with touching tributes all around (our thoughts go out to Alexander McQueens friends and family, his genius goes without saying) the runways echoed the cold and melancholy feelings of the industry.
A few bright lights in an otherwise dark, futuristic and rather serious FW2010. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The first 3 days of NY Fashion Week Spring 2010 were a crazy whirlwind of parties, shows, presentations, taxis, rain etc...
Check out a few of my favorite things from days 1 - 3...Much more to come...

Here we go again... Fashion Week is upon us and this season promises to be as compelling as ever. Shows, parties, not to mention Fashion's Night Out...And as per usual things just get earlier and earlier - with shows officially kicking off at Bryant Park tomorrow, the parties and off-site shows have already started.
Case in point last night's GQ + Dior Homme party... and it gives us a glimpse of who we can expect to pop up when we least expect them at shows...
Can't wait to see who else shows up around these parts, I'm betting this will be one of the most star studded fashion weeks to date...
Which is why... you should follow us on twitter @itsonlyfashion for your up to the moment FW news!!!!!
Just when you thought it was safe to walk by Bryant Park again...here comes Fashion Week.
What can I say, it's a love hate relationship that's developed over a few seasons of endless envelope stuffing nights, list making and seat chart coordination mixed with the nervous day of show anxiety and final sigh of relief when everyone takes their seat and the first model hits the runway.
Everyone’s pre-fashion week tensions seemed unusually high this season with the added bonus of recession anxiety all around. I almost started to believe that Fall Winter 2009 Fashion Week was going to be quite subdued and somber.
I was wrong.
Parties, glamour, the very highest end of fashion and a who’s who of fashionistas worldwide… Needless to say the usual bevy of celebrities were afoot.
Now, Fashion Week is technically not over until tomorrow but I figured with my tardiness and this much ground to cover it’s time to get started. I’m not resting until Saturday.
