Forget the Oscars, Hollywood's truly most fashionable night is officially the Costume Institute Gala. I can only say Holy amazing red carpet Batman!!! I've never seen so many incredible dresses on so many insanely stylish women all in one place. Doesn't hurt that the inspiration was American style through the ages. I think all the ladies seemed to conquer it. Keep reading for some of my favorites. I don't think there's one that I can say did this year's MET Ball any wrong. It's unbelievable!
So let's get down to business! Who gets your vote for Top Gun honors of 2009? zoe, sienna, emma, ashley, diane or alexa?
Our little Hermione Granger certainly grew up quite a bit this year. While promoting the 6th film in the Harry Potter series Emma Watson showcased not only a sophistication well beyond her 19 years (can you believe she's 19? I would have said 15 b/c for me she will always be 12 but ok) but a knack for putting together effortlessly stylish looks. She's another one of those girls who looks like she's just thrown the first thing on that she saw in her closet but magically it's perfect on her. And of course the public wasn't the only ones noticing, Ms. Watson's quickly become one of the darlings of the fashion industry, gracing numerous magazine covers in 2009 as well as scoring the staring role in Burberry's Fall and Spring 2010 campaigns. And all of this while managing to apply and get into an ivy league university.
While we are beyond proud of this Brit It for getting her priorities straight and giving teens a good example to look up to, we do hope this doesn't mean she will no longer be a fashion week fixture. Welcome to the big leagues Hermione.
It's taken me quite some time to get over the loving chaos that was NYFW. And I say chaos in the nicest way possible, sometimes chaos is necessary in life right? From my experience this was one of NYC's funnest fashion weeks in years - people seemed psyched at everything (minus one psychotic casting director who's career needs to be over and sent to anger management stat), smiles on faces - even Anna's - parties, glamour, a billion air kisses and way too many celebrity sightings to even count. My how things change in a season right?
Ok so back to the subject at hand, my point is that NYFW was so much fun that London Fashion Week followed with an equal amount of excitement. After all, no one does fashion like those Brits - at least in my opinion - and it was the 25th anniversary of LFW, a big reason to celebrate. Trenches and booties non stop were the name of the game, and London was It Girl central for the past week - Kate, Alexa, Gwyneth, Liv, Emma, Posh, Pixie, Peaches etc etc etc... And that was all at just one party!! To celebrate their return to the London stage, they had previously been showing in MIlan, Burberry threw the most star studded and infinitely cool affair of the week, not to mention the chicest runway possible. Oh, and the best front pairing I've ever seen. Take a look after the jump.
Emma Watson's up to her magic tricks again. Not content to top every best dressed list last week, Emma Watson was stunningly British as she made her way into the Today Show this morning. Wearing a red Saloni Alexia dress and Chanel caged booties and Union Jack Quilted bag, the Harry Potter star was so age appropriate and perfectly trendy, she might just kick Kate Moss to the curb as the best dressed It Brit.
Could Emma Watson be any prettier? Ms. Hermione Granger herself walked the red carpet last night for the highly anticipated premiere of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in London.Watson was princess like in a vintage Ossie Clark dress that flowed all the way to the floor and a messy updo topped off with a skinny red headband. Is it possible for a teenager to be perfectly poised like this? Hermione is completely magical!
