just a few more videos to satisfy your NYFW cravings...
We caught up with adorable new designer Kaelen Farncombe this weekend at the debut presentation of her namesake line, Kaelen. The Toronto native, a former Jenni Kayne and Stella McCartney employee, wowed with a cohesive collection that's normally reserved for the likes of seasoned fashion vets. The mix of soft colors, neutrals and a wowing turquoise were the perfect way to spend our Saturday morning and go with the layering addiction we have going on right now.
For a first timer Kaelen has an incredible eye for the minimalism that's sweeping the fashion nation, and a lovely mix of tailored and draping that was inspired by 1940s dressing. My favorite piece: a cropped black jacket with a shearling collar over a streamlined skirt and metallic-ish top. All this on her first time out! Can't wait to see what she has in store for next season. No pressure!
And did we forget to mention that she's just darling? Take a look for yourself...
It's no secret I'm a huge Mad Men fan. And while most oooh and aaaahh over Betty's douche baggery, or Joan's general fantasticness, I tend to identify with a minor yet integral character - Trudy Campbell. Sure she's a touch bratty but no other wife on this show has stood by her man quite like Trudy. Yeah Pete's a winey little bastard but Trudy sees beyond that and is there for him when he needs her to man up and play secretary, or bring food to the masses at Sterling Cooper Draper and Pryce. So imagine my surprise to see the face of the newest girl about town this Fashion Week...Mrs. Pete Campbell herself has managed to score front rows at some of the most celeb studded events (granted it's been a celebrity light kind of nyfw but whatever). We hope this is the beginning of a new found love for Alison Brie, aka Trudy who also stars on NBC's Community. It looks like she's got herself a publicist so now all she needs is a stylist and a fashionista is born! Welcome to the big leagues Trudy, we can't wait to see you blossom from housewife into It girl.
Day 2 was decidedly more colorful than day 1. Florals, purples and I'm starting to think that mustard may in fact be emerging as the color of the season.
Preen was definitely one of my favorite shows of the season. Justin and Thea always turn out the sexiest, coolest clothes, and you can just tell this will be on a bevy of the best dressed women ASAP. My favorite - the hot pinks and the mix of yellow and grey...
